Our experts in the field will review the application submissions and shortlist the finalists of this round to enter our two-day intensive Bootcamp session. Applications open from March 21-April 8, 2018.
The Bootcamp program will be a two-day intensive series of workshops, where accepted teams will have the chance to go through the ideation process, learn startup fundamentals, master the business canvas model and be provided with tools to help them excel during the pitching and investment stages of their business!
Once the Bootcamp session is complete, teams will have 10 days to work on fully developed business plans to submit in order to participate in the Mentorship and Pitch Practice workshop.
Here, judging will be based on the following criteria: value proposition, target market, competitive advantage, overall business model, innovation/scalability, team qualifications and market strategy.
Teams that develop full business plans will be invited back for a Mentorship & Pitch Practice session on April 23, 2018 at Zayed University.
Teams will sit with mentors from the startup ecosystem (investors, serial entrepreneurs, heads of incubators/accelerators etc…) and have the opportunity to get further guidance to strengthen their business ideas. Additionally, teams will attend a pitch workshop and then participate in a mock panel pitching session, where they’ll get to practice before the big competition day and get a taste of what judges will be asking and looking for!
Teams selected for the Mentoring & Pitch Practice will move forward to enter the Pitch Day competition on April 30, 2018. Teams will undergo the first round of pitching (3-minute pitches) in front of a panel of judges that will then filter and select the top 5 teams based on a predefined score-card for a second round of pitching (7-minutes) that will be followed by a Q&A by the judges.
Winners will be announced during the closing ceremony.
The competition is a public event and open to all students and faculty to attend.
